You've likely found yourself here because your family is not getting the support you need from more traditional services. You know there is something missing. Maybe your kid has been making leaps and strides during their weekly OT sessions, but things just aren't clicking at home. Maybe you have been fighting with the school district for more support for your child, but he doesn't qualify for services without an IEP. Maybe your child has graduated high school and they are striving to maintain their independence despite the lack of support services available to them at this age.
Our mission is to bridge the gap to community empowerment, and that means tailoring our services to meet the individual needs of your family.
Life doesn't happen in a therapy clinic.
We understand that each member of your family plays a different role in your child's life; and encourage meaningful participation from parents, siblings, grandparents, pets, and anyone else who loves your child. We consider the emotional needs of the entire family unit throughout the treatment process and strive to provide feasible solutions that can be integrated into your every day life.
You know your child best.
We believe it is important to celebrate what makes your child special. Strengths, interests, and family values lay the foundation for your child's treatment. We use the resources available in your family's environment to build knowledge and skills. We look for opportunities to highlight your child's special interests and skills; and harness them in a manner that builds confidence when working towards goals.
Differences are not deficits.
There is no "right" way of thinking, feeling, or behaving. We want to help your child develop a positive self-identity and the ability to advocate for their own sensory needs. We accept and embrace all forms of play, communication, and self regulation; and we support your child's right to say "no".
"Hillary helped us see the world through our child’s eyes. When we met Hillary we had very little knowledge of sensory processing. We were frustrated with navigating roadblocks and wanted our children to be happy. Now we are empowered and hopeful for the future.
Hillary used real situations in our every day lives to help us learn and problem solve to create sensory solutions that worked for the whole family. From adapting our dinner table to making our yard more sensory-friendly, her therapeutic interventions helped us enjoy family dinners together, spend relaxing time with friends, get better quality sleep, and go new places as a family!
Our son was improving at home, but seemed uncomfortable when he returned home from school. The teachers reported he was not having any sensory issues at school, but we knew something was not right. We asked Hillary to help. She was able to look at his experience with an Occupational Therapist perspective, unlike the teachers. After observing him in his classroom we learned what was causing his behaviors.
Hillary shared her observations with us and we were able to make the necessary changes to make him more comfortable. We are excited to say our son loves school now, looks forward to going, and comes home happy.
Hillary has been easy to work alongside, showing empathy and expertise to everyone in our home. She empowered us to be the parents our son needs in all areas of his life. Our days are more joyful because of her Occupational Therapy skills combined with her caring approach."
